Juan Quilla Laura first began working on coffee farms in 1984 as a day laborer eventually working his way up to owning his own farm. While the early years were filled with difficulty and his family struggled to meet basic needs Juan was eventually able to receive a donation from the United Nations which enabled him to plant new varieties of coffee that were more productive and more resistant to disease. For the past 8 years Juan has been producing 100% Bourbon variety coffee on his two hectare farm Quillabamba. A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity by our import partner Red Fox to taste this unique micro lot and we were stunned by the unique sweetness and florality present in the cup. We knew we had to have this coffee and are excited and delighted to share it with you!
